Flame spray coating is the most basic form of thermal spray, where the spray material is melted by a gaseous oxygen-fuel flame and shot at the part with compressed air. The spray material can either be wire or powder based, meaning virtually any material can be used. This process is very simple and the most cost-effective of the options we have.
Flame spray is great for repairing larger surface gouges, since it can easily deposit large amounts of material. Because of the simplicity of the process, flame spray is the most economical to add wear resistant surface enhancement.
